How to get there
The closest airports are in Ljubljana and Trieste, but it's possible to fly to Venice, Zagreb, or Vienna as well and book GoOpti (airport ride service) to get to Slovenia. We recommend renting a car to have the freedom to explore. If you need any help figuring out logistics, please let us know.
What to explore ...
For many of you, this will be your first time in Slovenia (or even in Europe!). Slovenia is a small but incredibly beautiful country that truly offers something for everyone.The four most popular and iconic destinations are Lake Bled, Postojna Cave, the coastal town of Piran, and the capital city, Ljubljana—with its castle, museums, charming old town, and beautiful architecture. The famous Castello di Miramar is worth a short drive to Trieste, Italy, but you can find plenty of castles around Slovenia as well!For the more adventurous among you, we highly recommend exploring the northwestern region of Slovenia, known for its stunning mountain ranges, hiking trails, and crystal-clear rivers. If you’re not sure where to start, look into Bovec (great for hiking and adrenaline activities like ziplining, canyoning, and rafting), Tolmin Gorge, and Triglav National Park.Keep in mind that this area is not easily accessible by public transportation, so renting a car will make your adventure much smoother.If you’d like us to tailor recommendations to your specific travel plans, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’d love to help!
Accommodation
We recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible, as Slovenia is a very popular summer destination—especially along the coast.On the map below, you’ll find a few accommodation options near the venue, but you can explore additional options on Booking.com. We generally recommend using Booking.com rather than Airbnb when traveling in Europe.If you’re interested in booking an apartment in Izola or a room/apartment in a guesthouse in Koper, please reach out to us—we’d be happy to help you arrange it (and even secure a discount!).Please also note that most accommodations in Slovenia charge a tourist tax, which is paid separately at check-in. The amount varies slightly from city to city and is calculated per person, per day, so be sure to factor this into your travel budget.
Discounted rates in Izola and Koper
If you’d like to extend your trip or stay closer to the beach, we’re happy to arrange discounted rates for you at a charming guesthouse in the center of Koper or at apartments in the heart of Izola. Both locations offer paid parking and are perfect for guests who enjoy exploring on foot and soaking up the local atmosphere.The first row of photos shows the apartments in Izola (120€ per night + 35€ cleaning fee). There are three apartments available; each comfortably sleeps two guests and includes a pull-out sofa that can accommodate two additional guests.The guesthouse in Koper offers apartments that can accommodate up to six people (up to 150€ per night), a small studio (up to 100€ per night), and rooms that can sleep up to four guests. Each room and apartment has its own private bathroom. You can see photos of the guesthouse in the second row.The bottom photo shows our beautiful Izola — we can’t wait for you to experience it!
Accommodation at the venue
We’ve rented the beautiful Villa Xaxat for the whole wedding weekend (July 31–August 2) for our close friends and wedding party, and we’d love to have as many of you stay with us as possible! The villa sleeps up to 20 guests and has a mix of cozy apartments and a spacious converted attic, and features a pool, jacuzzi, and sauna.Here’s how it’s set up:
◇ Three apartments each have 1 bedroom plus a pull-out sofa (sleeps 4 each)
◇ The converted attic has 6 single beds — perfect for friends who don’t mind a bit of a slumber-party vibe!Because beds are limited, please let us know as soon as possible if you’d like to stay at the villa for the full weekend (check-in Friday morning, check-out Sunday by 3 PM).We’ve arranged discounted rates for our guests:◇ 200 € per person for the weekend in an apartment (~ $232)
